Day 3 and S.C.U.B.A

(eagle ray)

Did you ever watch Jacques Cousteau growing up? Well i dont dive like him. i dont talk like him. i dont look too much like him... (no one has ever confused me for him) not yet.

But today i did some Scuba Diving. for a few brief minutes this afternoon while staring down the glare of a hungry shark i felt like J.C.

i hope you are enjoying your holiday even half as much as Jacques and I.

Belize Day 2. San Pedro. 12.8

The Spindrift is the home of the World Famous Chicken Drop... (can you imagine the noise? it's my hotel.) it's gotta be 90+ decibels right outside my window now. Every Thursday they have the drop. spin the chicken around, blow on it's butt, then drop it into the ring. wherever the chicken drops its 'POO' is who wins. they wager a dollar per number. live band located under the blue tent. it's been going on since 6pm and it's 9:35p now. i wonder what they feed those chickens?

a freediver stopped out on the beach to clean his daily catch. then the parts that aren't edible get thrown into the water for the stingrays to eat.

Dinner at Caramba Restaurant. one of my San Pedro favorites. Snapper ceviche, Conch Steak blackend, with steamed veggies and hot Coconut Pie. all health food.

Today i did two scuba dives. i saw a medium size turtle. (the size of a cadillac hubcap) a big spotted eagle ray. he was VERY close (~20ft) and slowly glided by us. we got to watch him for a long time. in addition we saw; a 4' green eel swimming up between us, 3 lion fish, about ten sharks, (nurse sharks 4'-7'. some close enough to touch) countless large grouper, a puffer fish, a few flute fish and a stingray. it was a nice easy day of diving. about 70' visability, 80 degree water. cloudy and windy all day.

well they are calling another chicken drop now. i have my windows open for the breeze and it's L.O.U.D. i'll be turning out my light and going to sleep in a second. yeah right.......

I'm in Belize for 2 weeks vacation ! ! !

i flew in today. im staying at a little dive. Spindrift. http://ambergriscaye.com/spindrift/ it's on Ambergris Caye, in the town of San Pedro, BZ.

right now im in my hotel room at the Spindrift. (i met the manager) im on the third floor, with balcony ocean side. it's cooled off and pleasant now at 9pm. this afternoon at 5 when i arrived, it was hot, sticky, raining. 82 degrees and EVERYTHING was moist.

it's summer weather here! (9pm and a nice cool breeze, but NOT cold) i got off the plane a sweaty hog. 82 and sunny. could be more some days if it were not cloudy and rainy. i got to my 3rd floor room. (economy class) via a $4us taxi, and opened the windows, turned on the fan. Did i mention it was hot and sticky! it's cool and fresh now. im gonna sleep well tonight.

For dinner i had a whole fish, local home made fresh today habanero sauce (that stuff will set you on fire) coconut rice, veggies. a Rum and Coke / 5 barrel. then to test it, a local bar brand Rum and Coke / the cheap stuff. Oh but wait, there's more. last - Key Lime Pie. about $25us for the entire stuffing of food.

well that's enough for day one. i Scuba in the morning so i need to sleep.

hope it's sunny and warm where you are! -Pirate Scuba Skip
