I read in a Guadalajara Newspaper about an off road race that would be going right in front of my hotel. So, I carried a chair out and sat by the street with my camera.
"The spectacular Dos Mares 500 race, will have its version in Jalisco this weekend as it seeks to repeat the success in that entity and soon become a tourist magnet for motor sport lovers both domestic and foreign.
The well-known town of Chapala has been chosen to be the venue and starting point, beginning the activities this Saturday, July 28, with an exhibition of participating teams starting at 12 noon in a party atmosphere seasoned with music and gastronomy to serve the pilots. and fans who will be arriving at the place these days.
The Dos Mares 500 in Jalisco brings together teams from different categories of cars, motorcycles, quads and will cross through Tlajomulco de Zuñiga, San Martín Hidalgo, Villa Corona, Acatlán de Juárez, Cocula, Atemajac, Tecolotlán, Quila, Zacoalco de Torres and finish line in Talpa de Allende. Authorities of these municipalities want La Dos Mares 500 to be a permanent event in this region of Jalisco."
I didn't see any actual 'racing', but all these vehicles drove past me @
about 30mph and several stopped for the red light, so I got to see them all pretty well.
