Thursday 12.15 From anchor, Chino Island, midway between Gasparilla
to Ft Myers and then on.
Yesterday after the replacement on the Impeller and that
lost time, we had to anchor at Chino Island for the night. Today we pulled anchor about 10am and motored
down the ICW to arrive at Ft Myers about 3:30 pm. Now we are attached to a mooring ball for the
night. In the morning we have a long
haul down to Marco Island.
Tonight we had spaghetti with garlic bread for dinner. I’m finding that my sleep pattern is slightly
skewed. I have been waking earlier and
going to be earlier. Part of it is my
personal ‘daylight savings’ time and part is being worn out from travel. Either way, whatever is causing it, I’m turning
into a cruiser.
Questions: Gary Garner asked, “What is Casa dePollo
Medley, is it grilled cheese?” Sorry
Gary, NO. *see photo attached. It’s a ‘House specialty made with Chicken and
whatever is available put into a casserole. (a secret pirate famly recipe)
We spent the day twisting and turning through the narrow ICW
down to Ft. Myers. We saw many other
boats and dodged them all. It was a good
day.
Note: upon arrival at
our mooring ball we learned that when you drop your line, you don’t want it to
wrap the ball… another thing we learned
was when you pull your anchor and the chain is twisted on the connection, you “can”
lasso it with a rope and pull it up to untwist it. Last thing – when a big ship ‘flies by you’
on the ICW, you better quickly run down and close some ports!
Now it’s bed time and I’m worn out. Tomorrow is a monster big day of travel. Look for the SPOT to go off early and often!
See ya at Marco Island before Saturday? -Cruiser Skip
