I had to put Prodigal in the work yard this past week.
I met a Redneck working at the Marina.
I saw his truck and wondered what the story was...
Then met him and now i know. Guess what, he's a character!
I also saw these guys up on the high wire yesterday.
The Outlaw Poker Run was this weekend, and we had 80 Cigarette Boats at our marina.
They race from party to party around Galveston Bay. Yes, they are very very loud!
Prodigal got hauled and blocked up to work on through hulls.
The water-maker needs two through hulls, one for in and another for out. Also i have a third through hull for the transponder depth gauge that needs work. I'm replacing the current transponder upgrading to work with my new Navigation instruments. Guess what - boat problems.
#1.) trying to install the Water Maker through hull we ran into a problem. We are going to have to cut out some fiberglass in the engine room.
#2.) the new transponder didnt fit. we had to order one for delivery Monday.
#3.) the bottom paint was peeling off and had to be replaced. (this was not budgeted, scheduled or expected) First you build a tent and then sand off all the old paint. Next apply 2 coats Interlux 2000 epoxy primer, then 2 coats of bottom paint.
NOOOOOOOOOO!! say it aint so.
It was so hot inside the sauna tent that they could only work about 30 minutes without needing a water break. (the weather channel said "feels like 102" and that's in the shade, not in a coverall suit inside a tarp tent in the sun) They breathe through a filter mask and cleaned up three trash bags of dust when it was all finished.
Friday after all the hot work sanding, they washed the boat to remove the dust.
Today they primed and then painted 2 coats of each.
