Thank Goodness it's finally Friday!
I’m still gathering contact info for my new phone. Aunt Nona gave me her cell number. (my dads younger and prettier sister) Plus I got cell numbers from my old office in
Dallas.
Repairs are still on hold awaiting the new parts for the
rebuild. Rebuilt ZF Transmission, new
drive shaft, bearings, drip-less seal, and new propeller. Plus the leaky oil dip stick fix. When ALL the parts arrive we will schedule
the install. (or Diesel Don will tell me when he can install)
What have I been doing?
(oops, sorry – WE. what have WE been doing?) Well, you saw the new paint posted most recently. In addition I took down an old fluorescent
light from the hallway during painting.
I replaced it with a new led light and used that old light – with new
led guts – in the engine room, where cosmetics don’t matter but you still need
to see. I wired in some lights in the
galley that were “temporarily” wired together about two years ago and never
finished. (ouch) Today I’m moving and
rewiring the SSB radio. It will be
positioned in the Nav station requiring all the wiring to be extended to reach,
and a hole drilled through the deck for the antenna. Lynne spent a day washing the Plexiglas
enclosure around the cockpit and general cleaning. There was the new faucet in the aft
head. What else? I took a nap each day… mostly it’s a waiting game!
The GAM split lead 34' antenna for the SSB radio mounts onto a shroud and pulls power from the house bank of batteries. First drill a hole through the deck.
Yesterday we watched as some boats left going north, or
south and were replaced by other ‘new to the harbor’ boats. It’s a daily ritual. When someone leaves in the morning, somebody
else comes in and replaces them here in the mooring field. At about 5:30p I was watching a sailboat
slide gracefully through the other yachts as it cruised directly toward the sun
blinding me. I was sitting in the
cockpit with Lynne sharing a ‘super Friday happy hour.’ (yes even on some Thursdays we party like
it’s Friday) Lynne plated some cheese,
crackers, smoked salmon and a little jar of mixed nuts. So I’m distracted staring directly into the
setting sun watching this yacht weave through the mooring field. I turn around to grab the mixed nuts – and
instead pick up my cup of wine – then proceed to pour it into my hand…. Thank goodness nobody saw that, or will ever know!
Today is REAL Friday and I’m going to be
very careful when I
celebrate sunset!
