There's no place like home...

Dad is selling our Old Family Home in Arkansas.  The question sister, Lynn, is here helping to pack up everything and clear it out.  This is even less fun and more work than I dreamed.  I came up here from Kemah after the big boat move.  We have had 3 trucks come and haul off stuff and are now finished with furniture moving.  It's just closets, and cabinets to go.  ('just')

So to reiterate, we sailed from the Chesapeake to Kemah.  Had a dinner party at Craig and Angelas house.  Then I drove up to Arkansas - to the old family home - to help clear it out.  Day 1: a roofing crew shows up and blocks access to the home.  So we went on a drive in the country with Dad and had a nice visit.

I've met dad countless times at 7:30a for breakfast at his Harding Place retirement center.  We spend a morning going through the old filing cabinets separating save from discard.  Go to town to the bank - safety deposit box - for Title Company paperwork.  (then reverse the process)

Go to Harding Place for lunch, play bingo, go back to the house and pack stuff.  Hire a crew, rent a storage thing to protect the family heirlooms. Then take dad on a little drive in the country....

Almost empty house.  Very full stomach.  Race cars lined up awaiting their drivers.  All in a days work!
A Harding Choir came over and sang Xmas songs today at lunch hour.  Then they mingled with us 'old folks.'  (reminded me of my youth.  my how the pendalum has swung back and forth)

Lynn and I have decided to take the weekend off and start again first of the week.  Operation Empty House is ongoing.         Green Bay Packer, Skip
