Sister Lynn, the question sister, asks:
"I hope you're doing ok?
Time to post a new story to your blog!
What are you doing? Movies and books?"
Great questions Lynn. Yes i'm doing OK. I used cousin ricks rental vehicle before he flew home and stocked up the fridge. I knew i was going to be home-bound and required to keep the leg elevated. (Lie around) Fortunately i have 2 AC's cooling off the boat to whatever temp i want. Also being up here in Stuart i can get some TV channels. I haven't been able to sit and watch the news since i left Kemah, TX last August. (wow, the news...) I also get to see some live sports now, yippee.
In addition, i have super hi speed internet here at the marina. So i'm watching Netflix and Amazon Prime. On Netflix i'm binge watching, Bloodline, a story-line about a dysfunctional family in the Florida keys. (lots of the scenery is very familiar) On Amazon i'm watching Bosch. Taken from the books about Harry Bosch, an LA police detective who has to solve lots of crime, plus battle an unfair department. The original books were written by Michael Connelly. I read all the Bosch series several years ago. It's Brilliantly Done! In addition to Bosch, on Amazon, i'm also watching Goliath. I'm on season 1, episode 4 of Goliath. WOW! they dont give you much time to breathe and none to catch your breath. I'm not going to give anything away, but don't go to the galley for popcorn or they might kill somebody off...
So Lynn, short answer - binge watching stuff. Perhaps when the novelty wears off i'll jump into a good book. But for now i'm doing some watching.
PHOTOS: since i'm on restricted mobility, i'm not getting the lovely photos i wanted yet. Here are a few i shot from the top of my companionway steps. I climb up 3 steps and turn the camera right and then left. (i'm surrounded by million dollar yachts. it conjures up memories of the Ugly Duckling)

When i sailed into Stuart last week i entered from the Atlantic Ocean and made my way slowly up the Saint Lucie River. I went under two very tall bridges, then through an open railway bridge and 'hurried' through a draw bridge while they held cars stopped for me. The railway bridge stays in the open position till a train comes. Then a horn sounds and lights flash and the train trestle drops down into place. The draw bridge is normally in the closed or down position until a sailboat comes along and the bridge operator (like the guy in It's a Wonderful Life) gets called via the VHF radio to request it be opened. The bridge is operated 24/7 with a real person watching for boat traffic and car traffic. When i arrived she, the lady operator, opened it for two boats in front of me and then held it as i putt putted up and through. I guess traffic is used to this and waits somewhat patiently. Although this AM i heard a guy honking his horn. (does he think the sailboat can go faster if he honks?) If i am out in the cockpit i can hear bells ringing and see the draw bridge going up and down for boats. When i'm able, i'll walk out there and get some photos.
I wrote all that to describe the Train Tracks. Last night i heard a long far off train whistle. Something like Johnny Cash describes in his prison songs. I can barely hear it. If it's night and quiet and i listen. But i can FEEL the train pass by. Day or night, regardless of noise. When a train goes by i can feel the vibration in my body. The rumble and clack clack clack of the wheels along the rails creates such a force that i guess it flows through the water. "I hear that train a comin. It's rollin round the bend. And i aint seen the sunshine since i dont know when." -- I'd let that lonesome whistle, blow my blues away." It makes me feel like a hobo riding the rails. Instead i'm some old guy with a cut leg down here in the AC watching Netflix and napping.
I hope nobody falls this week
and that my Plastic Surgeon surprises me Tuesday,
with good news!
