Did you know Driscoll's is grown here?
"Driscoll's is a California-based seller of fresh strawberries and other berries. It is a fourth-generation family business that has been in the Reiter and Driscoll families since the late 1800s. In 2017, it controlled roughly one-third of the $6 billion U.S. berry market."
I didn't know it. In fact I was really curious about WHY are there so many fruit vendors on the street in Ajijic? Where do they get those great looking berries? At home, back in Florida, those berries are in tiny little packages and cost an arm and a leg. Here they seem to be plentiful and inexpensive.
I recently found out Driscoll's has several growing acres across the lake. "They cover the fields of berries under huge white canvas to keep the sun off." I had seen the white covers when taking photos of the lake, but I didnt know they were Driscoll fields.
I hope your fruit is fresh and sweet, like ours! -Skip
