8 years backwards-sdrawkcab - my March 17th post is over. I'm turned around. Prodigal is turned inside out and running great.
Bill - aka Snake, from softball.
Bill helped me take Prodigal out Saturday morning for a test run.
She passed with flying colors!
With the new transmission installed, new drive shaft, new carrier bearing, new dripless seal, and finally new opposite direction twisted propeller it was a test of all the new variables. She purred along at 3,000 rpm and 8 knots. (before i was getting about 5 knots @ 2,000 rpm) "Diesel Don" said to run it up to it's highest RPM and then to run her at about 75% of that. That's my new cruising RPM and new speed. She passed with flying colors!
The old equipment vibrated, ground, banged and whined out in protest every mile we sailed. I didnt know any better. Now she whispers and sings a smooth salsa song... Fast, Smooth & Quiet. I am pleased with how she ran. I'll schedule some more testing in the near future.
Heck yes, let's celebrate. Key Lime Pie from Publix. Yummy!
