Family Island Regatta is now closed

THE RACES ARE OVER.
The Ferry Boats are all gone and so are the many hundreds of tourists.

A Special THANKS to Brent Hurt and Nate Graham!
Brent and Anna invited me to join them on their 26' 'big boat' for the Friday races.  It was a perfect day for racing.  Sunny and windy to allow lots of great photo opportunities.  Brent Hurt is a local homeowner, and plays Mondays @ the Rake and Scrape.  Anna is his Italian girlfriend who sailed here and never left.

I met Nate Graham a tourist from Michigan,
"who's family has been coming here for 60 yrs."
Nate shared these incredible Drone shots he took.

So, back to the Regatta and the parties...   They had a fashion show, a beauty contest, two parades, The Bahamas National Police Marching Band performed, food and drink everywhere, and nightly music concerts starting at 10pm.  Saturday night they presented the awards and Sunday I woke up to find the Government docks totally empty of all the ferry boats.  I guess the crews worked all night loading up the sloops from the races, and people from the parties, and just took off.

Sunrise the morning after

Royal Bahama Police Marching Band:
I'm told there is some 'stink' about the drummers Leopard Skin outfits.
I think they wear it well.

A good time was had by ALL.
Nobody was injured or arrested.
I'm glad I got to see it!
