Going to a SubT Frat reunion in Texas

I'm in San Antonio TX tonight.  Going to Tapatio Springs Resort for a College Frat reunion this weekend, in the morning.  (photos later)  It's just a little Northwest of here near Boerne TX.

My drive over, almost due West, has taken me 3 days.  I spent Tuesday night in Daphne AL with Ken and Patty Reed.  (today is Ken's birthday.  60 something)

Last night I stayed with Craig and Angela Reed in Kemah, TX.  (dear friends from my 'work days' and great sailors)

Tied to the dock in Fort Pierce.

We got in yesterday,
without incident.
(5th times the charm)
It's great to be back tied to the dock.  We arrived near high tide with a 15knt wind from the North and a very strong in bound current pushing us away from the dock. (instead of into it - to crash - like I have so many times here)

Day 3.

it's 10:08pm.  (that's an hour after cruisers midnight!)  I'm beat up and wore out.

We are anchored north of Fort Lauderdale with 2 more travel days ahead of us.  From now on we are in the ICW and happy to be here.

I'm wiped out and promise to write more later.

note to self: engine stalling just past the Fort Lauderdale inlet and having to anchor in the ICW, in an S curve.  (the Coast Guard stopped to check on us while I was down in the engine room cussing.)  We got Prodigal started quickly and made up the lost time but it was several hours before I could take a full relaxed breath!

Sleep now, type later!

DAY 2 - Miami Skyline across the bay

Prodigal is anchored off Key Biscayne
across from the Miami Skyline.  We have chosen to stay here a day of rest and relaxation.
(I'm tired)  The crew is doing great and everyone is in good spirits.

Yesterday was a great sail with 50% chance of rain it stayed cloudy and cool the entire time.  Also miraculously we never got rained on till last night just after we had closed all the hatches and settled down for bed.  All day long we watched dark rain clouds sneak past us, all around us and even over the top of us but no rain ON us.

Last night Robbin was in charge of dinner and made a delicious Italian pasta dish, 'with lemon zest.'  (she came up on deck and asked me "Skip, where is your lemon zester?"  I laughed pretty good over that.) Today we will hang out here and rest, do some chores, and tonight cook Conch steak in the pressure cooker.

This little cove against Key Biscayne is PACKED with day boats coming over to relax and play. After dark they all leave for their home ports and arrive about noon'ish. Up on deck it sounds like the battle of the bands.  Lots of very loud latin music competing to see who is the coolest!

Still have a couple of things to do and then hopefully sneak in a nap?      xo skip
