Gator bites anyone?

"In September 2023, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office investigated the death of a 41-year-old woman whose body was found in a waterway (near Skip's home.) The body was found in the jaws of a nearly 14-foot alligator."

"American alligators, on average, are larger than humans. Where American alligators are between 400 and 800 pounds, humans are only about 120 to 200 pounds on average. And, while the average human only stands at five feet and nine inches, American alligators are three to six feet longer than that."

We say down here;  "if there's water, then it has an Alligator in it." (this week, last week, or next week)  I saw a small gator in this creek some months earlier while on a bike ride.  Then recently on the same path I found flowers and candles on the bridge over that creek.  I assumed a child might have drowned causing the creation of some kind of memorial.  Yesterday there was a County Sheriff parked across the street sitting in his truck in the shade, so I rode over and asked him about the flowers.  He told me that a homeless woman living in the 'jungle' had been killed by a 14' alligator, and found in the creek.  ("part of the body in the gators mouth.")

Remember, Gators can travel miles on land between water.  If the lake, pond, creek is large enough to support, fish and birds, then it probably has gators in it.  If you see turtles, you are looking at gator bait.

"Alligators are aquatic animals and can travel up to 1.5 miles on land in a day.   They can run up to 11 miles per hour on land for a short time."

What is the predator of a 14' Alligator?  Nothing.
Well, maybe a man with a gun. (or Tarzan with a knife?)

It's Florida, where crazy stuff is normal.
