Hey we rode the 'Skyline Drive' road across Shanendoah National Park on Saturday and Sunday. (Daryl & Michele Liston, and i) WOW! 100 mile park stretching through the mountains of northern Virginia with views to distract even a motorcycle rider. Deer ran across the road in front of us and the winding up/down roads kept us from getting too relaxed... great ride. Daryl and Michele live in the DC area and have some lovely Harleys.
One interesting character we met on the road was 'Bob and his dog Buddy.' (it was Buddy's birthday. 7) Bob took a minute to rest and visit with us. he shared some "forest gump" like stories. currently he is walking the Appalacian Trail. (he lives nearby - drives over and walks 6 miles each day.) daily he takes a small bite out of the project. the "Tall Tale" feel was when he told us he ran around the world. at age 40 he decided he would run around the world, so he ran 5 miles a day till age 60. (28,000 miles) this goal accomplished, he decided to ride his mountain bike along the Lewis and Clark trail to the Pacific Ocean. ("to get in shape i rode to Florida") Bob was a welcome rest stop for us. made me feel young and in need of some adventure! You go Bob!!!
