NADA dinner at Emeril's 1.24.09

During the NADA convention we had dinner at Emerils Restaurant.

Yes, that guy from the cooking shows. This is his original about 20 years old, down in New Orleans. So, i'm out with clients - entertaining. The Sommelier offers me the wine list... duhhhhh, it's a 'War & Peace' size novel. i just ask him to get us a red and a white and dont choose any bottles over $100.

Now it gets interesting. He brings us (the red) a bottle of Paradigm wine. this rings a bell for me. back in December 2003 i ran into Greg Harris down in Placencia Belize. we are both tourists from the US. he is travelling from California and I'm from Texas. We Pal around and do some tours in-country. He says, "if you are ever working in San Francisco, come up to the wine country and visit our winery." (does that sound cliche to you?) Of course i think, what do you take me for, a fool? ... (dont answer) Well they do own a winery and i've visited it a few times now over the years. SPECIAL THANKS TO SUSAN xo for putting up with me. So, in a 'small world' twist of fate here it is - Paradigm. visit Paradigm's web page. IT'S DELICIOUS!

I told my clients that story at dinner. About meeting 'that guy' back in 2003, and his winery, and now Emeril chose this wine, and what are the odds? (they gave the appropriate 'oohs & ahhs.' but i bet they were thinking - yeah right. what do you take me for a fool?)

Life is funny. i'm still laughing! -Skip

1.26.09 New Orleans - NADA

'All Fall Down'

i didnt do it... the wind blew down the sign yesterday. I'm working NADA in new orleans, @ the convention center. some guy built a very tall sign but didnt anchor it well. during lunch it fell over into the street. blocked traffic for 3 hours.
No one was injured.
Other than this it's been business as usual. i've been enjoying some great meals!
