A Quiet Saturday with RAIN

Last night when i was crossing the river from town to Prodigal i ran across a houseboat moving.  A barge with two small boats and two tiny outboards was going somewhere.  As sound carries over water, i could hear them talking - yelling - communicating.  "I dont think we are moving.  The current is pushing us backwards."  I didnt find out where they were from (up river for sure) or where they were going.  But it was interesting to see them and catch the urgency in their voice knowing they were trying to get the house tied up somewhere before dark.

Today's number one thing was to fix the Raw Water Strainer.  Start by taking the bike ashore and riding to ACE Hardware to get 4 new stainless steel bolts and lock washers.  I just had to wait for a break in the rain to get to shore.  I got rained on several times today.  After the strainer i did an oil change on the generator and right now i'm making water while i watch a Netflix movie.

I'm starting to work on where to go next.  It's getting ship shape to move to the next location. Weather is just a big factor and not quite cooperating yet.  Let's keep our eye on it.

I hope all your boat parts are working and not leaking, or broken.  That your weather is sunny and clear.  That your plans match your reality and that you are happy about it.

Apalach and back at Anchor

Things are going well and lots of repairs are finalized, so I left the marina today and went back to my anchor spot.  Now i'm going to start planning my next journey south.  It's looking like an overnight trip to the Tampa area is where i'm headed.  More on that later.

Today i had the marina supply store in Eastport deliver me a new site glass for the raw water strainer. (what i broke yesterday)  So things are coming along.  Before departing the Scipio Creek Marina today i got the aft holding tanked pumped out.  (the holding tank holds the black water.  not the grey water like from washing dishes, black water is the stuff from the toilet.)  This makes the list of completes:  Packing replaced on the rudder, hydraulic leak fixed in steering, replaced all 4 fuel lines.  This is a great list of stuff done.  Now add holding tank to that.  Next i want to do an oil change on the Genset and fix the strainer and install it.

While ashore tonight receiving my part from the supply store, i had some food at the restaurant, "Up the stairs."  Crab Brochette and Carrot cake.  Then i motored back to the boat.

note:  i was just typing and fell asleep right here.  so i'm going to sign off and go to bed.
