Lynn, the question sister, has another great question. What about Hurricane Matthew?I was just reading your latest blog post ("It's a small world" song will be stuck in my head all day) and hoped you would comment on the approaching hurricane Matthew. Is your area preparing? Buying jugs of water and extra groceries at Piggly? It's all over the news for east coast. Evacuations in Charleston area and probably others?
Xo, Lynn
Well Lynn, here is what's predicted for us in Apalachicola. It could be accurate, or it could be close, and i guess it could be wrong? But you can see that i'm not on the East Coast and i'm not in the color areas of the warning maps. But yes, i did stock up on food and water and diesel fuel. I let out more anchor chain, (increased my scope to a 10:1) in case the winds got really crazy here. I expect rain tomorrow and winds up to 25 mph. But that's not more than any Friday rain storm. On the east coast it looks like they may get some severe winds, rain, and flooding. But i'm a long way from that.

Today John Daniel 'bought' me a pizza! Thanks John. I welcome that now especially with this weather coming. Nobody - except ducks - like cold wet and rainy.

Speaking of money and ducks. i stopped by the bank today because i had $8 in my wallet and figured i needed to be better prepared for something costing $10. When i tried to use my ATM card the bank refused me and gave me an error message, "call your supplier." My Chase bank had recently sent me a new ATM, with a credit card function added. (I cut it up and threw it away) So Chase cancelled my old ATM that i've had since 2010. I'm sure you are way ahead of me, i called Chase and got connected to ..... 'drum roll' ..... The Philippines. with my newly aquired knowledge, i asked the kind lady to please connect me with someone in the US,of,A. she did and the issue was resolved quickly and efficiently. (they cancelled the new card and re-installed my old card)
Stay safe, dry and don't let your anchor drag.
I'll report on the Hurricane as i see it, after i've seen it. -Capn Skip

Darling.
You are so thoughtful to think of me. :)
Have you tried boiled peanuts yet? I can't make any recommendations about canned boiled peanuts. Scary. They sound nasty and likely lack the delicacy and texture of "real" ones. Like street tacos, boiled peanuts are best from roadside stands. They were always best when I was rolling hot through the backwoods of Alabama, dodging troopers on my way to Destin.
Expand your palate and try some!!!
