Nature Study

My little orange pocket Nikon AW130 went into the shop back in December for a "lens error" problem.  (it fits in my pants pocket and I carry it all the time.)

I sure hope it's fixed and returned soon as I'm suffering photo withdrawls...  Since I still ride my bicycle daily I've started carrying my Full Size Canon EOS 7D, with the 300mm long zoom lens, to capture some of the nature I encounter.  Here are a few shots from my bike rides.

It takes great photos, but wont fit in my pocket!

These colorful Red Headed Agama lizards are NOT native to Florida.  (neither are Iguanas)  But they are taking over.  They eat other lizards and can be found everywhere.  They also love butterflies and are eating up the many endangered species locally.  (I remember as a child seeing these plastic lizards in a toy store and thinking 'how stupid painting them like that.'  Surely nothing in nature was that bright and wild.  Now I'm surrounded by them!)

My complete ride circle. (the nature trail is the top right corner)
All the residential areas I ride through.

About half the Canal has bike paths along it.  But the last half is just a wide ditch.
My bike at the ditch.

This alligator is about 4' long and "looks like" it could weigh 30-40lbs.  (i've not been able to get close enough for exact measurements) In the three years that I've ridden my bike along this trail I've seen him twice.  *note: I've never seen ANY snakes.

Osprey atop my mast.
The very nasty black berries the Osprey poops onto my deck.

a very rare eagle spotted on my street.

A Florida sight.  Truck loads of Oranges.

I hope you are enjoying some great weather!        -Skip
