The Grathem Catholic Church

The Catholic Church is the center of town.

In addtion to the beautiful church downtown, you can find several kapelltejes
(smaller alter / shrines) in the surrounding countryside.

Mr Tao invited me into the church to take photos after we met in the graveyard.
circa 1944 and the bell tower blown off
See photos from 1915 in the original section of the church and then another photo from 1944.  In the 1944 shot, the Bell Tower has been blown off by the fleeing Germans to prevent allied armies from seeing thier retreat.

note the skull and crossbones on this cross from 1757
