Cozumel, Mexico / scuba diving

Sunday night the entire city of Cozumel is on holiday. most places are closed and it's the day off for everyone. you can find the locals just sitting or milling around the town squre near dark. From 8pm till 10pm the bandstand comes alive with music and dancing in the town square. please note the 70 year old, noodle legs, crazy dancer.

Sabado noche, 4/8/06 6:45pm

Skip wrote today from Cozumel, off the east coast of Mexico, just below Cancun.

Says he would write more, but he is underwater most of the time. Sounds like he is eating the rest of the time.

Love,
Mom/Lill_____________________________________________________________

i just woke from my nap, 3pm-5:30pm. (only dove twice today - had to make time for the important things) the weather as been postcard perfect. sunny with just enough clouds to highlight the already crystal clear water and swaying palm trees. i can safely say that mom is wrong. i have made room for eating and working in some photos. also managing to get lots of sleep. will finish book one tonight and start book two. its been a lovely restful time.

LAST NIGHT i ate at, Prima, an open air restaurant built on the second floor overlooking the bustling central city. the night before i ate at, El Capitan Navigante, my favorite seafood spot on Cozumel. conch steak, fried red snapper and last night - sauteed lobster in homemade fettuchini noodles... did i mention the desert? chocolate cake so fresh it melted at room temperature with a single scoop of coconut icecream.

TONIGHT is still a mystery. more seafood. maybe king crab. Lobster. whatever the fresh catch is. it's great having 'mexican food' and seafood blended together. (lunch today was 3 tacos)

running now to catch the sunset photos. here's hoping it's lovely wherever you are. not sunburned. XOXO skip

mexico friday 4.7

i dove. i dove three times yesterday and now three more today. im good and tired. just stopped off in my dripping swimsuit from the boat on the way to the hot hotel shower to write a quick note.

the water is fine. the city is fine. no real damage to buildings (from hurricane wilma) and all is clear and hot here. have more diving in the morning.

moved the first morning from my spot on the downtown square to a {nicer} hotel 2 blocks from the dive location. the town square was very "alive" with city noise and not really as restfull as i was hoping for. the lovely city tower with the town clock rang all night long. the bands played till long after i went to bed and just before i fell asleep. its nice and quiet in my new hotel.

had grilled red snapper last night and am thinking a larger piece of the same might be just the ticket tonight. between dive 2 and 3 i had 30 minutes to grab a bite. grabbed 4 chicken nuggets at mc donalds. im starving.

tired and not really sunburned. gonna run now. will try to write more later. its tough to keep up when you are under water for every waking moment!

hope its lovely in your part of the world.
