More Jeep Crap?

You Betcha! more jeeping..

Note: if you are viewing this post on your cell phone, you are cheating yourself from the incredible views.  A large monitor lets you see the many switchbacks down below and the Mines and cabins off in the distance on several valley shots.

Here's the short version....   When we finally got some sunshine and warmth we made it to the top of Cinnamon Pass and met a large caravan of a Jeep Club coming up the other way.  (photo at top)  I met the cute 'Pumpkin Head' baby and noticed the scratches on her little cheek.  Turns out their family have a Jeep Topper Tent.  It pops up and you climb up a ladder and sleep like a baby.  Except this baby - fell out - during the night and landed hard on the rocky ground.  She cried!  (i bet they all 3 did) They took her to the hospital for some midnight xray's.  I kept my social distance but sure wanted to hold her!
*see the iKamper - pop up tent on top
I cant imagine how C.O.L.D. it must be way up there?  I had my little tent with an air mattress and electric blanket.  (plus wool socks, watch cap and several layers of blankets)
This Jeeper has a custom tire pressure system.  (when 4 wheel climbing, they let out air to a pressure of about 25psi so the tires have much more flex.  Then later they re-inflate for road use.)
Cam and I out jeeping in the snow  (see the flakes?)
We met this circa 1944 truck way up the mountain.

5 o'clock somewhere?  Yep it's a jeepers happy hour going on.

A Red Fox invades camp

In addition to the Jeepers, we also saw:  A herd of Elk, horses, coyotes, marmots, chipmunks, hawks, buzzards, a fox, dogs, sheep, cows, Lama, Alpaca, and Deer.
A funny story about the Fox visit.  After a long hard day of sitting in a jeep for many hours having the rough trails pound my spleen...  I sat down around our toasty cozy fire pit and warmed my old bones with a beverage as it neared dusk.  After a minute I leaned over to 'set my glass' onto the bench of the picnic table.  But the glass almost fell over.  There was something on the seat that made it tip over.  I moved the glass and picked up a "cigar shaped object."  It was about 3" long and slightly moist.  I knew it had not rained that day, so why the moisture?  Also, what was it?  It was dusk and color had faded so it was just a dark round object about the length of my finger...  till i smelled it.  It smelled like SHIT.  Holy Crap, it was shit.  The Red Fox had climbed up onto our picnic table and dropped a fox turd under my glass.  I took the CDC advice and washed my hands, maintaining social distance!  I also did not make friends with the fox.

JEEPING in Colorado

After the Labor Day Weekend get together in Rogers AR, Cam suggested we take his jeep on an adventure to ride the trails and passes near Ouray, Colorado.

Cam Prock and I drove his jeep to Ouray Colorado.
(Yoo-Ray) Where we camped in tents, in the snow, and jeeped around the
mountains on narrow curvy cliffs over deadly deep chasms.
