Today i went on a hike

Someone on the morning net radio show invited any interested cruisers to join them on a 3 hr hike starting at 10:30a "at the dock north of monument beach."  I ended up on the wrong beach searching for them.  After walking the shoreline about 100 yards i found their dinghy's.  I even saw the hikers off in the distance but never caught up with them.  I followed their footprints for three hours but never met up.  (that could be because i lost the trail three times and stumbled around in the jungle back tracking looking for their footprints.)  After i got tired and hungry i turned around and retraced my steps to another trail to shore.  I went out for a cultural event and social interaction.  I came home with scratches and itches up and down my legs and zero human contact.  Today I'm going to gather up my trash and go to town to the Music Festival.  I'll meet other 'trashy people' and socialize!  I guess the moral of that story is, 'if you want to meet people, look for the trashy ones.' ??

A 'salt monument' atop the highest peak at George Town.

From the internet:
This Roman Tuscan Column was erected during the vibrant period of the salt trade in the late 1600s between European countries, such as France and Spain, as well as Caribbean countries like Haiti. The column served as a marker to guide vessels to the salt pans.

The salt pan surrounded by boat names of stones
A 'false trail' i followed till it dead ended in jungle

another false trail that led me out into nowhere... and back again.

It was a nice hike and I might do it again.
I also might pay closer attention to the radio announcements!
