We got a new Campground style charcoal grill at the Oaks.

A new grill and I got to install it... Finally.

The Oaks board chose a new grill as a project in 2022

and we got it installed and finalized... finally today.

I'm in building number 4, so this is right outside and behind my crib.

We also got two new picnic tables
my car and Villa on the right.

A TEST of the grilling system last night.

It works as planned.

LtoR: Jill, David, Nora.

It's really Jill's birthday on Friday, so this was a surprise cake for her.  But during discussions last week, David and Nora were both 'bitching' because they said, "I never had a birthday or cake when I was a child."  (poor unspoiled little brats) David grew up in Newfoundland, but Nora has no excuse. (Nora claims abject poverty as to why she never had a cake.  I call Bullshit.  Even poor kids can steal a birthday cake!) They were very surprised and the cake rocked...  So, maybe I'll tell them I never got a cake either?

Happy Birthday Jill.              -Skip

What was that? A bird, a plane, the Coast Guard?

Holy Crap!  What is that plane doing?

I heard a very loud plane and looked out to see it bank out over the bay and approach low and right at me.  It was followed by a helicopter right on his tail.  I ran out onto the porch and took this.

CLEARWATER — The Clearwater Historical Society held an opening reception for “Clearwater Salutes Our Coast Guard,” an exhibit honoring the city’s longstanding ties to the U.S. Coast Guard, on Jan. 14.

The Saturday morning event at the CHS Museum and Cultural Center, located at 610 S. Fort Harrison Ave., showcased displays, exhibitions and demonstrations related to Clearwater’s near 100-year history with the USCG and was highlighted by a double flyover of the former South Ward Elementary building.

Prior to the dramatic sight of a massive HC-130 Hercules transport plane and accompanying Sikorsky Jayhawk helicopter doing a double loop around the building’s courtyard, Clearwater Historical Society President Allison Dolan spoke about the impact the military service branch has had on the area.

“Clearwater is a Coast Guard City,” Dolan said, referring to a national designation given to communities that have strong connections to Coast Guard bases and members.

The museum is 2 blocks from where I live, so the plane and helicopter came directly over me flying "treetop high."

Just a normal day at the Oaks.
