Mexico searching for El Chapo

Heather, one of the Sushi girls from Wednesday night, invited me to join her on a quest to Mexico.  She wanted to burn some vacation days and said, "i have a condo so it don't cost nothing."  She feels it's more fun to have someone to share your experience with.  She used to live down here, so she has a lot of 'sharing' to tell you about...   But it's fun and she speaks fluent Spanish so i am mostly having good luck with the travel and directions.  Heather said at the outset that she 'had to see Calakmul' but is now changing her mind and thinking the beach is close enough to Mayan ruins for her...  (a woman's prerogative to change her mind?)

Yesterday we left Merida, where we flew in, to drive to Chichen Itza to see Mayan ruins.  (*note: look below for photos.  You will find instead photos from a Convent.)  En-route to Chichen, Heather volunteers that we are going by a very famous 'photo op' an old Monastery.  We should really stop and see it.  See photos below.  After the Convent we stop for lunch then drive on finally to Chichen Itza.  We pull up at the gate to Chichen at exactly 4:07pm.  I know, because they stop allowing entrance to the park at exactly 4:00pm.  When you enjoy the lovely artifacts in the old Convent, remember they are NOT to be compared against the opportunity to see a Mayan ruin.  (*note2: the ruins will still be in ruins another time and the Convent is still in good shape and active.)

Heather is saying now that we will leave the Condo tomorrow.  (the 'free' condo) to drive 4 hours south to a 'nice spot' on the ocean, not quite to Calakmul (the must see spot on this trip) to chill for two days.  Then maybe go to Calakmul.  so 'if' i have internet in Laguna Guerro the next stop, i'll post more.    Authors Note:  i have NOT seen El Chapo.
