Mel my old friend writes

I got the sweetest email from Mel today...
Mary, Skip, Mel (at ASHA 2015 chicago)

Hi Skip!
I don't get to check out your blog as often as I would like, but when I do, it is always entertaining, on many levels.  GREAT pics and sure wish I was there!  Glad you have your boat running the way it should have been all this time.  =-)

I'm still working hard BUT have decided to retire at the end of this school year.  All of a sudden the timing was right.  My daughter, Morgan, and I have developed a Therapeutic Horseback Riding Camp for kids with Autism and we want to spend more time with that - being around horses and seeing the magic they work with kids with autism.  Lots of other things in the works, so I am excited!

Are you ever coming back to Texas?  I'm so  happy you are doing what you like!  Life is short, my friend, so you are inspiring me!
Have a great day!
xo

Mel and i met about 25 years ago when she was presenting at convention.  TSHA in San Antonio, TX.  Texas Speech Language Hearing Assn. Since then we have kept up via ASHA, the national affiliate of the same group.  (i used to do the Audio Visual for both conventions)  I enjoyed my work because of great clients like Melanie.  I didnt love them all, heck i didnt even like some of them. But i LOVED Mel. Hopefully some day i'll finagle an invitation to the horseback camp and have some photos to include.  Photos of the horses and kids.  *I have 25 years worth of photos of Mel and I smiling and mugging for the camera.   I miss YOU my friend.    xoxo Skip

Blackberry Cobbler.  Because God did not mean for man to live by bread alone.
Or, apple pie, or keylime.

The last and the least photo - when hauling in the dingy the other night
i felt a "grape land on my back."
maybe falling from about 30 feet.
i look up and see a smiling Sea Gull.  Well, he didnt drop a grape...
I'm glad it wasn't an Osprey and that i was not looking up!
