Going to Arkanasas

Now that I'm finally settled in and have gotten Prodigal 'hurricane ready,' I'll go to Arkansas to visit my dad.  I've not been to visit since before i went to the Bahamas and that's too long.  Dad, I'll see you THURSDAY.

Last week I went to The Navy Seal Museum.   In the early 1940's the little town of Ft. Pierce had about 8,000 people.  But just over the bridge they had The Fort Pierce Naval Amphibious Training Base.  The base housed about 40,000 WWII trainees.  The site was used as a training facility for amphibious troops for invading Normandy during World War II.  At the base they trained UDT and SEAL's...Frogmen.  (Underwater Demolition Team.  SEa Air & Land)  Navy SEALs, are the U.S. Navy's principal special operations force and are part of the Naval Special Warfare Command.

It was a great museum with numerous exhibits ranging from WWII to current day.  Several video theaters and countless weapons with detailed explanations.  Cost $15 and I spent three hours slowly seeing it all.

Raven the K9, out walking the grounds.  He strolled up to me while i was taking this photo and looked me in the eye.  Then he moved 'very close' and sniffed me for an uncomfortable few seconds before he determined I was harmless and walked away.  I did not try to pet him.
