Kemah, is near Galveston. South of Houston on the Galveston bay. i am actually not at elevation 4 feet. sitting now typing in my salon i am a little below sea level. certainly my goal is to KEEP the boat at exactly sea level.....

would love to write more but i've got to run make a figgy pudding. -skip

Prodigal report Tue 12.16

Christmas Season in Kemah... It has been cold / drizzly, with FOG all day. i did a laundromat run, and met with the "poo zar" guy from Maritime Sanitation about my holding tanks.* (lets come back to that in a minute) went to the library and stocked up with some great books.

i wanted to report on a couple of improvements around here. first: the LPG tanks that Craig helped with while he was here last week. i dont have any shots of the old tanks, but imagine rusted out old oil drums almost corroded away into flakes. the worst one was slightly deformed from corrosion. (the gas people wouldnt fill either tank) these are all new tanks, hose and fittings. the solenoid cuts off with a switch in the kitchen to insure no gas escapes without your knowledge.

second: this shows the new lights at the pier J end building. covered little buildings at the end of each pier; picnic tables, barbecue, hot water heater and washer dryer. they are replacing everything that was ruined by high water in the Hurricane.

last: So, last week they dug up the parking lot, replaced the water mains to all the piers. then my pier had a problem with the valve.... so, today they dug it up and replaced it - again. i hope to have water by tomorrow. (i use it to fill my water tanks on board. i still have 100 gallons available)

* the poo zar. i'll do a report another time on the holding tanks. (where the 'poo' goes when flushed) currently i have 2 tanks with 15 gallons each. a company comes and removes the waste each week. i am putting in larger tanks and all new hoses. i'll sleep better without worrying about this. imagine. so, i go from 30 gallons to 68. much better for visitors.

yummy! Happy Holiday. -skip

Saturday Xmas Light boat parade 12.13

Kemah Boardwalk Christmas Light Parade of Boats. The 47th Annual Christmas Boat Parade features more than 100 beautifully lighted and extravagantly decorated boats travel leisurely through the Lake and up Clear Creek Channel to Galveston Bay, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The parade can be viewed along the shoreline in Seabrook and from the Kemah Boardwalk. (my marina)

Iron Maiden lives on my dock, two boats down from me. Warren built it himself in just 8 yrs.

this is the view from my deck, at dock.
