JFK remembered

My sister in-law, Susan, got me the book Killing Kennedy by Bill O'Reilly.  It was well written and covers, in great detail, the time of Camelot and the end of the age of innocence.  Surrounded by the Civil Rights movement, the start of the Vietnam War, the Space Race and Bay of Pigs Kennedy is shot...  There was a lot going on!  What a sad tragic loss.

One takeaway i have from the book is this quote:

O God,

thy sea is so great,

and my boat is so small.

The above was a plaque that US President John F Kennedy had on his desk in the White House.

Here we are pictured with my older brother Steve.

Dad and I drove up to McAlester, OK to visit family.  Bill pictured with his great grandkids.

s/v Prodigal DECK Paint work

There is a lot of preparation for the deck before they can paint.
All the cracks must be sanded and then refilled.  The old non-skid surface had to be smoothed off.  (the old non-skid was textured like elephant skin.  Lots of folds and grooves on every flat surface.  to 'fix this' we are using an Awlgrip leveller product.  Fill up the grooves then sand it smooth.  after it's smooth you can put down a primer on the entire deck.  Then tape off the areas for shiny paint and areas for non-skid paint.
The old Elephant Skin surface.

After the surface dries you sand it smooth.
