The visit to the NEW house in Maastricht

Maastricht and building a new house!
Jane, Ruud & Hakey pose for a family photo in Maastricht town square.

After living four years in the tiny farming village of Grathem (1,700 ppl) the Scheenen family is building a new home in the sprawling metropolis of Maastricht which is about 125,000 ppl.  Maastricht is way way down in the south of the Netherlands a few miles from both Belgium and Germany.  We took a drive down to meet with the construction company about all the particulars and the progress.

stages one and two of the project are up...
A crane is the only thing built so far on thier house...
A statue of Dartanian in the city park.  (i'm told that he was actually shorter and fatter)

Maastricht, a university city on the southern tip of the Netherlands, is distinguished by its medieval-era architecture and vibrant cultural scene. In its cobbled old town, is the Gothic-style church Sint Janskerk, and the Romanesque Basilica of St. Servatius houses a significant collection of religious art.
