Still Oyster town - Apalachicola

I'm in the planning stages for my next leg of the trip.  An OVERNIGHT!  Everyone i've spoken to insists that it's too dangerous to try going around 'the unexplored coast'.  It's marshy and shallow with lots of things to run into, like the shallow bottom.  (Boats fear hitting bottom, not the deep.)

Somewhere they are having a classic car gathering and several came through town today.  If these cars could talk, i would have asked them.  But all i could do was take their picture...

I spent two hours this morning cleaning up the boat.  Getting things Ship Shape.  Cleaning up old 'Seagull surprise' from the deck.  Then i went to shore to see if i could find a co-captain to help me move the boat.  I'm still looking.  While out and about i ran across a few more great houses.

Oyster fishing and shucking is the big industry here.  Apalachicola - Oyster Capital of the World.

The burlap sacks weigh between 80-120 lbs ea.  ('depending on who loads them') they put 20 sacks per pallet.  When they get the full crew of 25 shucking in November they do 3 pallets per hour.  (that's one sack per minute)
Just some local guy i thought needed to be photographed.
