Volunteer Work - helper

Lynne volunteered she and i to help Debbie and Moray load up 'supplies for Hurricane relief in the Bahamas.'  All credit goes to Debbie and Moray.  They created a 'go fund me' page and collected monies for hurricane relief.  next they borrowed a truck from a fellow cruiser and we went and collected 15 rolls of roofing.  Moray and Debbie drove the boat to the dock and loaded up the roofing and some boxes of nails.  Tomorrow s/v Sol Purpose will pull anchor and head to the Bahamas to deliver the roofing.  Plus they got some donated clothes from a local church and bagged those up for transfer as well.  All this got loaded down in the salon of their boat and will clear customs in Morgans Bluff, Bahamas.  We will miss Moray and Debbie.  (mostly Debbie!)  Safe Travels Sol Purpose...

The anchorage is a madhouse with all the boats coming and going.  We have a small 'weather window' and numerous vessels are taking off to places south and east.  I saw the first one come in about 7am (never saw the other one leave) to take an empty mooring ball off my bow.  They have been moving on and off the water and fuel docks all day.  I expect tomorrow morning to be even more hectic.  I heard on the radio this morning from boats going to:  Cuba, Bahamas, Turks & Caicos.  Plus some going just north and south on Florida.

Everyone sits and waits for the perfect conditions to sail.  Wind.  But from the correct direction. Wind, but not too hard.  Wind, but only small waves.  sit and listen to the radio weather reports... Thursday might be good.  Friday might be good.  Saturday till 5pm might be good....   GO!

I'm not ready to go yet.  But all this activity is making me anxious.                -Capn Skip
