Mullet Report April 2010

Lately I have been compared, by total strangers, to these two handsome men. Frankly i dont see the similarity... I'm taller!

Washinton DC

Well i meant to write something this week.... but, I've been busy 'working.'

Monday past, i got a call from my boss during lunch"asking" me to go to Washington DC and help with a show. AACR. So, two days later, Wednesday here i am packed and loaded onto a plane coming to DC for a week. It's been a little slice of a Tornado Pie. Equipment equipment everywhere and not a drop to drink...

(That's me on the right.)

We dont have time to go out for lunch because of the program schedule, so the client provides a catered lunch each day.

This gig ends tomorrow and i fly home again Thursday 4.22

In addition to the work news, i was asked by the fans-o-mullet club to report on my ugly hair. So here are the latest Mullet photos. Because can you really have too many mullet photos?

what is that nasty ringworm looking stuff?????
how funny that you asked. I had some back pain and went to a tiny Korean Grandmother for a massage. she put these round sucking disks on my back and created some spectacular hickeys. she also made my back hurt worse for 3 days.

PS. some interested fans have asked about the Mullet and it's 'mystery.' Well - duhhhhhhhhh just look at this shot. Now do you see why i want to grow one? If you dont, then there's just no explaining it to you.

Sea of Love. April 11, 2010

Cruising World, January 2010

The Short Version: recently when reading the January issue of my subscription to Cruising World Magazine, I saw 'an interesting article.' Sharon Ragle had written a cute little story saying "take my daughter please." She writes about how 16 years prior she had placed an ad in the Classified Section looking for a husband to cruise with her around the world. (read her book) She met, married and circumnavigated and now signs autographs and does the book tour. This article was for lightening to strike twice and find a mate for her daughter Erika. (read the attached below)

OK, i'll bite. i was intrigued to say the least. i wanted to meet both the mother and daughter of this family, to hear their story. So, i wrote Sharon and met both she and daughter Erika at a book signing locally. The story is cute and the romance of the theory is refreshing - get boat, find first mate, sail around the world.

There was no Love Connection between daughter Erika and i, but i did love meeting them both and hearing their story. Never a dull moment living the life of a Pirate and Dock Rat.

Having a lovely spring on board. xo Pirate Skip

Allergies 2 - Skip 0

Do your allergy meds leave you in a fog?

I feel like a hibernating bear, shot by a tranquilizer dart. Lethargic, achy and 'fuzzy brained.' I stopped by Walgreens and asked the Pharmacist what i could do more to fight this horrible Pollen. He suggested i try a different medication. ('maybe instead of Claritin, try Zyrtec')

Now, i started yesterday by taking a Claritin (over the counter brand) then using Nasonex nasal spray. Then i added Zicam the nose swab sticks to dry up the runny nose. So after about 3pm when the Pharmacist suggested the 'new' med i took a Zyrtec. About 4pm i'm feeling 'in a fog.' My nose still runs, i still sneeze, but now i feel dazed and out of it.

Right then someone knocks on the hull of the boat. tap, tap, tap. "hello Census taker!" I have no idea what i told her but it was quick. I agree the new Census is quick and easy this time.

Just shoot me - please!

MY ALLERGIES ARE KILLING ME! (4.7.10)

i am sneezing, hacking and 'running' away today. (didnt sleep well) the pollen is out of control. normally i take an over the counter allergy pill and nothing bothers me. but this year the Oak Pollen is so high i can hardly stand it. (or truthfully i cant stand it)

""Amazingly, scientists have collected samples of ragweed pollen 400 miles out at sea and 2 miles high in the air. Because airborne pollen can drift for many miles, it does no good to rid an area of an offending plant. In addition, most allergenic pollen comes from plants that produce it in huge quantities. For example, a single ragweed plant can generate a million grains of pollen A DAY.""

WELL DARN IT, im suffering. i heard on the news last night, 'low to normal pollen counts are 700-900. high is 1200. yesterday our Oak Pollen was 3200.' my eyes itch, my nose runs, i sneeze. I sneeze often. they say it might rain today. i hope it clears up the pollen? (tonight they say the pollen is still extremely high. the culprits: Ash, Hickory, Maple & Oak.)

400 miles away is Sonora, Texas. So, are they out there shaking the trees and sending all their Pollen my way? do i have to drive out there and cut down all their trees? Somethings gotta happen!

Other than the fact i cant breathe we are having a very lovely spring. weather in the 70's and sunny.

hope your pollen is low and the temps are just right... xo pirate skip

What is going on now?

Good Friday 4.2

I just watched Julie and Julia. Julie writes about her year and what she cooks from the Julia Child cook book each day. (cute movie, i enjoyed it.)

It made me realize i dont have to wait till something 'important' happens, i just need to write about my day.

Since last writing back in January i have travelled for work to; Orlando for a week and New Orleans for two. i am back now on the boat and caught up on 'office things' for a few weeks, so i can get back to boat chores.

Oh, and Julia, tonight i cooked a steak in the broiler (it was raining out at the grill) with sauteed spinach and a baked potato. 'yum.'

Bon Appetit !
