Grathem Farms

Holland grows much more than tulips!

I think any seed you drop will sprout.

Jane bike riding down a farm lane

Grathem where Jane and Ruud live is in the province of Limburg, way down in the southernmost part of the country.  Each province has its own local government.  Also the Netherlands is both a monoarchy with a king and also a democracy.  Mostly it's rolling farm land with lots of canals and fields of green growing plants...  It also has a 'cool' climate, almost cold compared to Florida!  It has been a facinating visit with all the differences.

Stroopwafel ('Strope-Waffle')

 A Dutch cookie?

 Literally a "syrup waffle"

A Stroopwafel "is a wafer waffle made from two thin
layers of baked dough joined by a caramel filling."

Sweet, chewey and tasting of gingerbread and molasses.  The Stroopwaffle is a traditional Dutch cookie, ("like an American Oreo.")  It was quite good and I'm craving another now! (w/ coffee?)

Yummmmmmm!
