San Pedro Saturday 12.9

After my travels I was a little tired last night. It took Elvi’s famous chicken, rice and beans with steamed veggies to bring me back from the brink. One Belikin beer and half a package of Belize coconut cookies set me right.

I got back to my room early to read my book only to find the folks across the hall were playing their TV at 10,000 decibels. They also had their windows open so everyone could enjoy the history channel with them. Fortunately they turned it off somewhere after 11pm. Then the Friday night drunks came home about midnight. Lots of raucous laughter, loud voices and door slamming. I dozed off soon after. At 1:15am the rain began. It poured. Tin roof clanging, dropping 10 feet onto concrete just outside my window. I laughed about it and went back to sleep. Waking all through the night.

Today was a gray “cold front” day. I walked around in shorts sweating at the muggy heat. The locals walked around in shorts and jackets cursing the cold. (its your perspective – I am on vacation – it was a beautiful day!)

Finished my first book this morning and well into my second. loving it. Took a nap and am already planning my dinner. Going to Caramba’s for something special and coconut pie. (be jealous)

Got back to the room a minute ago and set up my little computer work station. Pulled out my CF card from the camera and realized I had left my card reader back in dallas…….. it will take me a day to figure this out.

Stay tuned for photos tomorrow.

Warm, sultry and gray with a promise of more rain. Next week when im up in the rain forest I know what it’ll look like.

Happy Holiday from the Caribbean!
