Weather Window, or a race to the Bahamas?

The crew of s/v Sol Purpose invited Lynne and I over to their lovely home for Sun-downers last week.  To reciprocate we had them over to Prodigal.  See below photos from our 'happy hour.'
(hint: in the second photo i said, "now give me sexy.")

I'm actually starting to feel some pressure to get everything ready to depart for the Bahamas.  I bought a used HAM/SSB radio and have done a 'temporary' install to test it.  (i ran a verticle dipole antenna and have received clearly from the Chesapeake to Rio Dulce Guatemala)  I have listned to Chris Parker's weather the last two days.  some wavelengths work and others dont.  (i'm still way way down on the learning curve)   QUESTION - does anyone have any history using a 'whip antenna' with SSB?
In addition Lynne is working on a set of courtesy flags for the Caribbean and i'm painting new Dingy Numbers.  So we have daily arts and crafts projects just like summer camp.

I hope you are enjoying enough food to keep you working?  I also hope you dont get too hot in this warm weather.  Is your 82 degrees also with a nice breeze off the water?    warmest,  skip

Lynn, my question sister writes, "But how's your hand??  Well Lynn, it's better thank you.   Almost all the bruising is gone and the soreness has diminished to the point where i forgot to use the ice pack at all today.  I'm typing with ti and am almost using it as normal.  except when lifting anything heavier than a gallon.  i still favor it some.  i can hold my toothbrush and am brushing again...
