Saturday and the fresh clean smell of paint

Yes some days are more spectacular than others.
Do i enjoy my cup of coffee in the cockpit with a sunrise like this...  HECK YES!

Yesterday, Lynne (and i helped her,) painted the walk through hallway, the Navigation station, the Galley, and the Main Salon.  We first filled all the old nail holes, sanded and primed with Kilz.  For a paint we used Behr Exterior enamel satin finish.  It has stain blockers, mildew fighters and a water wash up.  It cost $46 per gallon.  We used about a half gallon.  The old paint was faded, stained and yellowing in some areas.  This new paint really made a million dollar difference to the boats resale.  *If you offer me a million dollars right now, i'll take it...

ALL BEFORE

AFTER

Now it's all painted except the Master Cabin aft and the V-birth.  Maybe tomorrow?

Equipment update:  Diesel Don says everything has been ordered and 'should' arrive Tuesday.  nothing further to report on repairs.  I have paint on my left forearm, right shin and shoulder.

I hope your Pirate Ship is clean and fresh!           - Skip

Another Beautiful Day!

Today i got phone numbers texted and emailed to me by:  Sister Lynn, Ryan my nephew, Steve my brother and their wives, Charles Bitenc, Mark Cascio, Gene Gould, Craig and Angela Yakel, Gary Garner, Cam Prock, JD, Tommy Bonds and David Cox.

"Red sky at morning, sailor take warning..."
"Red sky at night, sailor delight."
This has been confusing for me.  I'm a sailor, so who do i listen to?

I need you to share your cell number with me.
My phone died and I lost everything.
But, it's a beautiful day here!         - Capn Skip

ps.  it rained hard most of the day today

New THROW DOWN flip phone

I DONT HAVE YOUR
CELL NUMBER ANYMORE.  mine is the same as before.

After all these years, Sprints only answer to my phone dying was to "upgrade me"  (sell me another new phone)  I chose to buy a throw away cheaply for $20 at Walgreens.  Then cancel Sprint and switch to ATT and save more bucks and no contract.

I DONT HAVE YOUR CELL NUMBER ANYMORE.  Also if you left me a voicemail I don't have that either.    Sorry.   Cell Skip

*OK you two i'll work on gathering some photos and you can check back soon for an update.           -Pirate Skip

Angela asked, "Miss you.  I Want pictures of the painting projects!   What kind of special paint do you use inside the boat?  Also I think you need to be yelled at.... "

Rust on the bottom of the mast.  Before sanding, Ospho, and paint.

Ryan Williams, my nephew asked, "We're going to need a picture of the 'battle stripes' and other painting projects before too long."

Boat Busy Work

It never seems to end....   the boats 'busy work!'

Let's see.  Diesel Don stopped by and informed me my transmission is shot.  So i'm getting a rebuilt one and that is in process.  My new phone should (should) arrive tomorrow.  Lynne has gotten a wild hair and started painting.  So far she has done the two bathrooms with lots of threats to continue on down the hall and into the main salon.  i put new gasket material on the freezer and painted the mast foot.  i also got the new antenna and grounding wire for the used SSB and am working on that. (i guess add 'acquire SSB operators license?)  i had to swap out my left hand prop for a right hand one because the new tranny is opposite.  last week i installed a new faucet aft in the head.  (back bathroom)  i had the outboards 100 hour service done. i've been working on 2016 taxes and transiting 'boat papers'.  i put some battle stripes onto my dingy while the paint was out to give it a more individual luster.  (and to make it less inviting to steal) Lynne got her new Passport but we still cant leave - with the drive train ripped out. i have a Canon camera lens that's giving me an error message and probably needs a factory refurb.  i'm sure there's more but that's all i can think of now.

i have a pretty long list of stuff still to do.  But i'll cover that later.

i hope your engine is OK?  Avoid the Crab Pots!    -skip
