I installed a WiFi boosting device yesterday.  The Wirie AP.  I've been testing it today and am VERY pleased with it's performance.

The Short Version - i had to return all my "work" tools when i retired, yesterday June 21st.  So i no longer have a mifi device to connect with the internet.  (to type Blog posts)  Also, i'm sitting way out in the Kemah Boardwalk Marina (photo to far right beside house barge) making the distance to the 'free' Wifi at the marina impractical and impossible.  My laptop down below in the salon could 'see' the signal but not connect.  i decided to buy the Wirie Internet Booster.  After the installation last night, I saw  24 different Internet connections from here in my salon.  Before this, i saw only one, the marina network, but the signal was too weak to connect.  Now i have a rock solid connection with speeds fast enough to watch Netflix.

Antenna on top of the clubhouse.

The Wirie was pretty easy to install and their instructions were clear enough for me to hunt and peck my way through.  I now have a separate dedicated wireless network on Prodigal.  I can access it with all my wireless devices.  (Kindle, phone, laptop)  It comes with most parts pre-assembled.  You just screw on the white antenna and attach a 2 amp fuse.  (not supplied)  I am also installing an On/Off switch just downline from the fuse as the unit mounts outside on the top of the arch and there may be times when i want to turn it off.
