Day 2 going south. Gasparilla

Day 2 on the Trek South.    Gasparilla

Venice to Gasparilla.  Another calm flat windless day of motoring.
Yesterday we arrived in Venice to the City dock about 4pm and managed to tie up with only ONE broken nav light.  (another one bites the dust)  The Starboard light took a direct hit with a piling and ‘barely’ broke off.  It could be fixable, but we are day sailing and not worrying about it now.  I’ll check it when I can.  [*Note:  Dad the nav lights are required for night-time sailing which we wont be doing on this trip.  I’ll either fix it or replace it once we reach Marathon and have access to a West Marine store.]

The dock last night was a FREE city dock adjacent to a city park – WITH bathrooms.  (a luxury that cruisers don’t take for granted.)  We tied up and had a nice walk for exercise.  Gotta keep my girlish figure!

This morning we were at extreme low tide and had to wait till about 9am to get enough clearance to depart our dock.  Then we motored all the way down here to Gasparilla.  We saw some dolphin off our bow and LOTS of flat water.  Now we are at anchor ‘near’ the ICW and awaiting 8am to start out transit down the ICW to Ft Myers for tomorrow night.

Gotta run now to cook some Pork Loin in the pressure cooker.  YUM!    Pirates eat well.   Xo Skip
