Turns out the weekend I return is the annual Mariachi Festival.
Did you know that Mariachi originated here, in the Mexican state of Jalisco?

Mariachi music originated in the state of Jalisco, with roots dating back to the 18th century, but it was in Guadalajara where the style became a national symbol of Mexico. The modern, polished mariachi sound and image, including the now-iconic charro suit, were largely popularized through radio and film in the 20th century. UNESCO recognized mariachi as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2011.
